If only you had an extra hour in everyday, right? Around this time of year we could use an extra day in every week. So when it comes to holiday gatherings, whether it’s your own or someone else’s, you want to make something that is quick and easy, but still delicious. Here are five dips that are sure to be a hit at any holiday party, and don’t require hours slumped over a stove.
Recipe | BLT Dip
- 1 pound bacon
- 1 cup mayonnaise
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1 tomato – peeled, seeded and diced
Place bacon in a large, deep skillet. Cook over medium high heat until evenly brown. Drain on paper towels.
In a medium bowl, combine mayonnaise and sour cream. Crumble bacon into the sour cream and mayonnaise mixture. Mix in tomatoes just before serving.
Recipe | Pizza Dip
- 1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
- 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon dried parsley
- 1/4 teaspoon dried basil
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 cup pizza sauce
- 2 tablespoons chopped green bell pepper
- 2 ounces pepperoni sausage, chopped
- 2 tablespoons sliced black olives
In a small bowl, mix together the cream cheese, oregano, parsley, and basil.
Spread mixture in the bottom of a 9 inch pie plate, or a shallow microwave-safe dish. Sprinkle 1/2 cup of the mozzarella cheese and 1/2 cup of the Parmesan cheese on top of the cream cheese mixture. Spread the pizza sauce over all. Sprinkle with remaining cheese, then top with green pepper, pepperoni and olive slices. Cover, and microwave for 5 minutes. Serve hot.
Recipe | 7-Layer Mexican Dip
- 1- 8oz. package cream cheese Spread, softened
- 1 tablespoon taco seasoning mix
- 1 cup salsa
- 1 cup rinsed canned black beans
- 4 green onions, chopped
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 cup shredded lettuce
- 2 tablespoons sliced black olives
- Baked tortilla chips
Beat cream cheese spread with mixer until creamy. Add seasoning mix; beat until well blended. Spread onto bottom of 9-inch pie plate.
Layer all remaining ingredients except tortilla chips over cream cheese mixture.
Refrigerate 1 hour. Serve with chips.
Recipe | Roasted Red Pepper Dip
- 1- 7oz. jar roasted red peppers, drained and diced
- 3/4 pound shredded Monterey Jack cheese
- 1- 8oz. package cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup mayonnaise
- 1 tablespoon minced onion
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons prepared Dijon-style mustard
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
In a small baking dish, mix the roasted red peppers, Monterey Jack cheese, cream cheese, mayonnaise, onion, garlic and Dijon-style mustard.
Bake in the preheated oven 20 minutes, or until bubbly and lightly browned. Serve warm.
Recipe | Caramel Apple Dip
- 16 individually wrapped caramels, unwrapped
- 1/4 cup water
- 1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
In a medium saucepan over medium-low heat, or in the microwave, melt caramels with water, stirring frequently.
Remove from heat. In a medium bowl, cream together cream cheese and sugar. Fold in caramel mixture. Serve warm with apple wedges.

















Ooh, I bet scallions would be great in that BLT dip, although there are so many onion haters. One of my best friends made that once at our first Thanksgiving Without Parents: yum!
